SF2 Strategies to help with supply drain

Postby Brian » Tue Mar 30, 2010 3:05 pm

I just noticed the old Star Fleet Battles bulletin board is (somewhat) available on the Internet Wayback Machine Internet Archive at: http://web.archive.org/web/20050220060130/www.extrastrength.com/starfleet/wwwboard.htm

Here's one suggestion for SF-2 Strategies to help with supply drain that I grabbed form the archive.

"I got one. When exploring a system always explore the planets nearest to the edge of the system first. When you break orbit to go to the inner planets. Plot a hyperspace course to the SAME system. Set the second target to the planet in the middle of the system. That way you drop out of hyperspace right next to the planet and save the time/supplies it would take to go there at sub-light speed. As mentioned before cltr-f is your best friend."

More SF2 Strategies to help with supply drain

Postby Brian » Tue Mar 30, 2010 3:09 pm

Another post by Worf Maugg form the old bulletin board.

"Here’s some ideas and tricks i have used.

Establish as many bases as you can. Planetary bases are very important because you can drop in and beam up the supplies rather then waiting for crewmen on a supply mission. I carry extra crew and shock troops so I can attempt a base on every new planet I orbit except gas planets.

Don’t kill any freighters. Disable them, board them and take their crew. Then either leave the ship in orbit or tractor it to another planet/system in a handier/safer place. Or you can tow it around like a trailer. They usually are full of supplies when you first capture them. When you stop at a star base just park your “trailer” outside. Dock, beam it full from inside of the base and pick it up on your way out. Then you can feed off it as needed. In later missions you can order a supply ship to rendezvous and again fill both you and your trailer.

PS. I just got my sealed Star Fleet II from Ebay! Thanks a ton, Brian, for giving me the heads up on that one!!!!!!!!
Need some advice. SHOULD I OPEN IT?????? I’m dieing to compare the new bright red book to my old stained broken pink book.
