My Introductions.

I figured I'd go first here and break the ice.

I've been programming since I was 7 years old (33 years ago). It's something I've always loved to do and never seem to get tired of. Since then (essentially the birth of the micro computing age) I've been up to par on computer and other related technologies as well as about 50 programming languages that I like to program with.

Since I first took a look at Startrek like games (the classic TREK games on those old PCs) I've always loved the command based interactive type of games that these games use. And well I'm a trekkie so it wasn't that hard to convince me they'd be fun. lol. Well I'm not a die hard trekkie and I don't have a klingong or starfleet uniform but I love the future and the technology they are making us believe. :).

I'm probably one of the later ones to have come across the star fleet series here (only maybe 3 years ago) but I got to say they are the best series I've seen as far as command based user interactive interface goes. At that point, the more complete, the more complex and the more realistic the details the better. Needless to say SFII fits the bill perfectly so I was an instant fan.

That's about it for now, looking forward to getting to know everyone else.

I played SF1 on an IBM PC in 1984. Amazing. I have pretty much the same resume as you. I started programing in around 1972, on a Dec something or other, and just kept going. I now work for a company that does simulations, and I do it all day long. I might finish my bachelors one day and then on to graduate school. It's funny, that for all the new graphics, it's hard to beat SF1 for just plain playability and fun. The user interface is top notch, simple and easy to figure out. The ONLY thing that irritates me is the deal with running out of energy in a quadrant with a Base if your aux engines are dead.
I have been working on my own ST variant for years. Always something else coming up.
